Clayton County International Park offers plenty of year-round family fun.The Beach at International Park (open seasonally) has a spring-fed, 6-acre lake, adventure kiddie pool, slides and sandy beaches. Beach volleyball fans can play where the 1996 Olympic athletes competed for gold. The surrounding park includes a 17-court tennis center, indoor and outdoor playgrounds, fitness center, fishing lakes, walking and biking trails and group picnic area. Rent a pavilion or the party room, or have your picnic under the trees. The park is open year-round, but the beach is open Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. In addition to being the site of 1996 Olympic beach volleyball competitions it's also one of the film sites for "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire."

Zip through the trees 1 hour north of Atlanta at North Georgia Canopy Tours™! Two certified guides lead eight participants on the Sky Bridge Tour (2 hour) and Adventure Tour (3 hour), each conclude with a dual racing zip over a pond.

The Sky Bridge Tour ($69): 9 ziplines, 2 sky bridges, 2 nature walks and the longest zip.

The Adventure Tour ($89): 12 ziplines, 2 sky bridges, 3 nature walks, zips over three ponds and the river, the fastest zips and a 30-foot rappel. Special pricing: half-price kids Tuesday through Thursday with full-priced adult (one child per adult). Must call for kids half-price reservation.

The Premium Adventure Tour ($139, three hours) is designed for 6 people, and includes video and digital photos of your experience. Discounts do not apply to the Premium Adventure Tour.

Broken Arrow Riding Park is one of Central Georgia's premier off-highway vehicle (OHV) riding hot spots. Broken Arrow offers an amazing venue for OHVs, such as ATVs, motocross bikes, and side by sides.

Younger riders can take advantage of a youth track and professional lessons. Advanced riders will find huge thrills racing on narrow high-speed trails through the scenic hills of Warthen, Georgia. Mud lovers will not lack for fun if they dare to enter "The Swamp," a mud bath for any jacked-up 4x4 OHV that dare to try and cross.

Broken Arrow's large parking area and stage also hosts concerts and other types of outdoor events.

Panola Mountain State Park

Just 15 minutes from Atlanta is a recreational haven for all ages and interests. Visitors can picnic while children work off energy on the playground. Anglers can bring their fishing poles to catch dinner at Alexander Lake. The park even offers archery, boat rental, geocaching, orienteering, birding and tree-climbing programs. A paved trail is open for biking, roller blading, jogging and dog-walking, while forested fitness trails are open for hiking and running.

Panola Mountain is a 100-acre granite outcrop similar to Stone Mountain, but smaller and much more pristine. Park visitors will see the outcrop and its rare ecosystem just as Native Americans did centuries ago. Reservations are required for ranger-led hikes that teach about the rare plants and animals found in this habitat and is the crown jewel of the Arabia Mountain National Heritage Area , one of only three National Heritage Areas in the state.

Located on the western edge of Lookout Mountain, this is one of the most scenic parks in the state, offering rugged geology and beautiful vistas. The park straddles a deep gorge cut into the mountain by Sitton Gulch Creek, and elevation differs from 800 to 1,980 feet. The most spectacular view into the canyon is found near the picnic area parking lot; however, additional views can be found along the rim trail. Hardy visitors who hike to the bottom of the gorge find two waterfalls cascading over layers of sandstone and shale into pools below. Cottages are located near the canyon edge, while the parks walk-in campsites provide exceptional privacy for tents. Outdoor lovers should not miss this parks spectacular scenery.

Chattahoochee RiverWalk

Navigate the shores of the river on the Chattahoochee Riverwalk. By foot or on bike, you will skirt the cityscape, examine historic monuments and markers, and take in the wild beauty of the rolling river and native wildlife. This 15-mile linear park spans the riverfront from the Lake Oliver city marina south to the National Infantry Museum.

The relationship between Columbus and the Chattahoochee predates written history. Spanish explorers told about the falls nearby. The Native Americans' most extensive trading center was here.

Geocachers can take on the RiverWalk GeoTour, the first of its kind in the world, with 31 challenging geocaches with collector game pieces, including three coins.

Everyone is invited to raft the longest urban whitewater course in the world on the Chattahoochee River, or watch from the riverwalk as rafters shoot the rapids. Check in with the Columbus CVB for details.
